As Simcoe Country residents, we’re fortunate to be surrounded by farms offering pick-your-own pumpkins, among other fun fall activities. We’ve put together a list of places close to Barrie that are worth the short drive.

Note – this list was created October 6th, 2020. It’s always a good idea to check the farm’s respective websites for the most up to date information.

1. Barrie Hill Farms (2935 Barrie Hill Rd. Springwater, ON L9X 1S8)

Distance from Barrie – 5-10 Minutes
Pick your own pumpkins, no reservation required. There are 2 ways to pick pumpkins:

  1. If you are picking any other crop and wish to pick pumpkins, jack-o-lantern size are $8 per pumpkin, or any 3 for $20. Pie pumpkins are $1.75 each.
  2. If you are only picking pumpkins then there is a $20 minimum charge to choose any 3 jack-o-lantern pumpkins for $20 (per family up to 5 people). Pie pumpkins are $1.75 each.

2. Rounds Ranch (1922 County Rd 92, Elmvale, ON L0L 1P0)

Distance from Barrie – 30 minutes
Every weekend from Sept 19th to Oct. 31st 10am to 6pm. PYO favourite pumpkin – any size or colour. Admission includes Fun in Ranchland. Other activities such as ‘Fun & crazy’ Pumpkin Games – pie eating contests, pumpkin hockey, challenging Cornfusions Cornfield Maze. Purchase your tickets online.

3. Chappell Farms (617 Penetanguishene Rd, Barrie, ON L4M 4Y8)

Distance from Barrie – 5-10 minutes
Check out Chappell Farm’s ‘Fall Festival’ full of fun COVID friendly activities such as corn mazes, pumpkin picking, tricycle tracks, animals, hay bale runs, and more. Admission times have been limited to 2 hours, and costs $10 per person (children under 23 months are free!). Purchase tickets online here.

4. Dysdale’s (6635 Simcoe County Rd 56, Egbert, ON L0L 1N0)

Distance from Barrie – 25 minutes
Drysdale’s hosts a ‘Haunted Harvest Village’ starting October 10th running until Halloween. Limited to 100 guests, you can book your time slot in advance. Walk-ins are welcome but not guaranteed. Activities include: haunted trail, pumpkin picking, bonfires, train rides, obstacle courses, zip lines for children, and more! Book here.

5. Brown’s Farm (1809 Penetanguishene Rd, Barrie, ON L4M 4Y8)

Distance from Barrie – 10 minutes
A short walk right beside barn. Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, 11am-5pm. Open Thanksgiving Monday! No wagon rides this year, Brown’s has simplified their operations due to COVID-19.

6. Murphy’s Farm Market (5141 County Rd 10, Alliston, ON L9R 1V2)

Distance from Barrie – 30 minutes
Pick-your-own pumpkins or squash opens September 19th. Catch a wagon ride out to their pumpkin patch. Admission is $9 (Monday-Friday) and $13 (Saturday-Sunday) and plus costs of pumpkins. Read more here.
